Good help is a whole lot easier to find when
you enlist the services of Poppens & Jeeves Domestics Placement,
Inc.
A fifteen-year
resident of the Boulder, Colorado area, Bobbie Van-Nix
has independently owned and operated Poppens
& Jeeves for over eight successful years, and has placed hundreds
of domestics employees throughout Colorado, from Nannies, Housecleaners, and Eldercare Companions to Personal Chefs,
Domestic Couples, Home Managers, Housemen, and Home-Office Assistants.
Whether you're
looking for a nanny for your children, a live-in companion for an
elder parent, a housekeeper, or a bookkeeper for your home-office
business, Van-Nix can make your search so much easier. She screens
the applicants for her clients' particular needs and circumstances,
always focusing on "making the right match." P&J applicants
are carefully assessed and selected by Van-Nix, first
through a detailed and thorough application packet, then through
interviews and confirmations of references that Van-Nix conducts
herself. In addition, she encourages her clients to allow her to
have a professional background check done for each placement.
Van-Nix works
to eliminate trial and error and to match qualified applicants with
her clients' home and family needs. "It's an intricate process of permutations and combinations,
with lots of focus on careful screening and personal
service. It's a vocation I love--I've 'found my bliss,' and I
want to pass the benefits on to my clients and applicants. A
favorite quote is from the poet, Rumi, and it applies
today:
Everyone
has been made for some particular work,
And
the desire for that work has been put in every heart.

Poppens & Jeeves is supportive and helpful to applicants as well.
Depending upon the particular job and the applicant's previous experience,
household employees can make anywhere from $13 - $65 an hour. "I
don't employ the applicants myself or take any part of their pay,"
says Van-Nix, "but I do feel a sense of responsibility for their
welfare and do my best to see that my clients are aware of the ground
rules. If household employees are treated with respect and
given a fair wage, they can be extremely loyal." Poppens
& Jeeves placements tend to last for a long time--to date, some
have lasted more than three years.
Poppens & Jeeves
works differently than most placement agencies in that clients pay
no up-front or registration fees: consults and assessments
of the client's needs are free. Indeed, clients pay
a commission to Poppens & Jeeves only if and when
Van-Nix is successful at presenting applicants whom the clients
decide to hire. "I'm not comfortable about taking anyone's
money unless I can 'deliver the goods,' and even then, there's a
90-day Replacement Policy." The replacement policy is
seldom used, however, because Van-Nix is so "picky" about
the first placement. She says she'd honestly prefer not to
make the placement rather than to make the wrong placement;.
"I want to be as sure as I can that the first placement is
the right placement; that way, everyone's happy and I continue getting
new clients from the best resource--word of mouth."
